“Is he watching yet, Burt?” Kim whispered.
Her eyes were closed. Goose bumps prickled on her skin.
“What difference does it make?” Burt answered in a low voice. “If he’s not, he will be. Just forget about him. Pretend we’re alone. It’s the only way we’re gonna get through this.”
“I guess you’re right,” Kim sighed. “We’re in too deep to back out now.”
“Good girl,” Burt said with relief. “Now let’s get your clothes off. The sooner we get started, the sooner we can get out of here.”
“Okay,” Kim agreed.
But when she tried to undo her blouse, her fingers trembled so badly that she couldn’t get a grip on the buttons.
“You’ll have to give me a hand,” Kim muttered. “Can’t help it, I’m spooked.”
“Sure,” Burt said patiently. “I know this can’t be easy for you. If I’d known it was gonna turn out like this I wouldn’t have brought you here–”
“That’s all right,” Kim cut Burt off. “Nobody twisted my arm. I’m more to blame than you are. Just a little nervous right now, that’s all. C’mon, undress me and let’s get started. We’re both gonna get what we want.”
