Who can judge a person’s reactions during stress situations? The prisoner of war who gives in to his captors’ demands, the kidnapped heiress who joins forces with her abductors—both must act without past experience to guide them. The end result can be either a very negative or a positive experience.
In TIED TO HER DESK, Stephanie Mills finds herself in just such a situation. Held captive by her boss, degraded and forced to perform abnormal sexual acts, she nonetheless finds within herself hidden resources, a strength of character she never realized she had.
Stephanie suffers through an unspeakably horrible experience, but she comes through with her sensibilities intact, knowing she is more of a woman.
“Here’s the papers,” Stephanie Mills said nervously.
The man took them without a word and retreated behind the side of the dumpster. Stephanie waited, turning, her heart pounding as he looked them over.
Silently he came out, handed her the envelope and vanished up the alley.
Nervously Stephanie checked the envelope. The thousand dollars was there. She put the envelope in her purse and turned, almost running back into the street.
She calmed down as she walked along, taking the rest of her lunch hour to get herself collected. She had occasional rushes of conscience about betraying Dominic, her boss. But the money was good and men deserved to be betrayed.
