THE BABYSITTER BALLS BEST is the story of a young girl who dares to try the unknown. Nancy is a teenaged girl trying to find herself, trying to find out what makes her budding body tick, trying to find out what life is really about. Like many young people, she often learns things the hard way.
THE BABYSITTER BALLS BEST is a story about a time that everyone must face, the fragile moment between childhood and maturity. It is a frightening and confusing time, but one which holds lessons which will remain for a lifetime.
Nancy was alone with Mr. Mason in the darkened garage when she decided to make her move. He was about to drive her home after her six-hour babysitting job and she knew if she didn’t act now she never would. All evening she’d been gathering up her nerve, not paying her school books the slightest attention. It was now or never. She took a deep breath and turned to face him as he held open the car door for her.
“Mr. Mason, I . . . have something to tell you …” she began, her voice shaky.
Her eyes dropped suddenly out of shyness. She couldn’t look into his handsome face. She hesitated. What could she say next?
How could she tell him she had a terrible crush on him? It would sound so childish, coming from her. She was nothing but a shy young schoolgirl and he was a successful man of the business world. He flew off all over the country on business trips. He was so mature, so cool, so handsome.
