It has been said that every person has some dark passion within his soul, some hidden secret desire that may never surface to be seen by even the closest confidante. Such a secret can be evil or sinister, or it may be trivial and trite.
In America, such dark passions are easily submerged by the complexities of modern daily life. But sometimes these passions are exposed, and one more scandal hits the headlines.
This is a novel about people who dare to let their most base desires surface, but most especially it is about the eager members of a fatherless family, their monetary problems, and their taboo desires. In their quest for mere survival, they are swept into an illicit web of lust, from which none of them seem willing or able to escape.
Susan stood up from her kneeling position, brushing dirt from her knees, then turning around to look at the happy horse-play between Ricky and Bobby. They were wrestling about on the lawn as she weeded the flowerbeds.
Ricky, she noticed for the thousandth time, was going to look like his father. Thinking of her husband brought a pang of sadness to her. It had been three years since her husband’s death, and she was just starting to get over it, when, suddenly another tragedy had happened again.
Her parents had lost control of their car on a treacherous curve and died immediately. That was six months ago, and Bobby, her young brother, was no longer bothered by it.
Bobby had been a surprise to her parents. He had not been expected, but then he had been a joy for them, too.
How much of a joy, Susan had only recently discovered.
