Even with the rising rate of divorce, the liberalized attitude toward sex and the common occurrence of “living together arrangements”, most surveys have shown that Americans still overwhelmingly believe in the institution of marriage. But despite that belief, the basic structure and workings of contemporary matrimony are a far cry from those of its predecessors. Today there are more and more families in which both the husband and wife work. There also seems to be more equal sharing of the responsibilities of home and children. And there appears to be a radical change occurring in marital sex mores.
Fred and Janet Moore are an average young American couple who find themselves at a crossroads-their marriage, while solid and filled with mutual respect, has grown routine. The Moores find, however, that they are capable of great flexibility, and manage to change their situation without sacrificing their marriage. While their solution may seem shocking to some, for them mate-trading proves to be a satisfactory outlet and a unifying force.
WIDESPREAD WIVES-the story of one couple’s attempt to strengthen their marriage and make it more meaningful. A work of fiction for entertainment, but a story which contains an important message.
