The overwhelming problems brought to fore by divorce can often force some people to commit acts they would never consider under usual circumstances in an attempt to resolve a pressing dilemma.

In MY MOM DOES IT!, Peggy Mason is one of these people, for her problem-an empty, unfulfilled sex life brought on by divorce-leads her to seek other comforts, her story is that of a woman shattered by life’s realities, namely a marriage which had failed and a future which is, at best, clouded and uncertain.

MY MOM DOES IT!-a novel about a society which too often ignores a person’s cry for help.

“Mother, what’s a tramp?”

Peggy Mason turned to look at her daughter. “Where did you hear that?”

“That’s what Daddy said you were, a tramp,” Amber said. “What is a tramp, Mother?”

On Peggy’s other side, Ted laughed.

Peggy felt herself burn with anger towards her ex-husband. He wasn’t satisfied with calling her a tramp, but had to say it in front of their son and daughter, too. It made her want to skip the plane and return to his house and confront him, but she knew it would only cause more trouble between them, and there was enough already.

Amber and Ted had spent all summer with their father, and Peggy had to pick them up; he wouldn’t even send them back. Peggy didn’t mind, because it was only a two-hour flight, but she did mind his influence over them, especially saying things like that about her.

She considered her ex-husband a prude, and a real asshole. Just because she had certain desires, hungers, he thought she was cheap, a tramp. She hated his macho bullshit, his selfish demands on her body, yet calling her names when she expressed those same hungers. It was the cause of their divorce, and if it weren’t for Amber and Ted, she would have no contact with him at all.
