Lori Lane sneaked a glance at her steady boyfriend Rodney, then scooted closer to him on the couch. Her heart was hammering, and the setting seemed to be perfect for romance. She slid her hand into Rodney’s and pressed her leg against his.
“Huh?” Rodney exclaimed.
That wasn’t the passionate response Lori was hoping for. Here they were alone together, except for the sleeping kids Lori was babysitting, and Rodney couldn’t think of anything better to do than watch TV.
“I like sitting close to you, Rod,” Lori breathed.
“Lori,” he sighed, “I prefer to be called Rodney. And I don’t like sitting close. It could lead to something dangerous.”
Lori sighed loudly. “Oh, come on, Rodney,” she said. “We’ve been going together all year and you haven’t even kissed me yet.”
“And I don’t intend to,” Rodney said primly. “I explained that to you, too. I’m saving myself till I’m married.”
Lori stared at him. She just couldn’t believe the guy. Of all the boys in the world, she’d chosen to go steady with the only one who wanted to stay a virgin. She could have screamed with frustration.
