Ronnette put the big Chrysler into a drift and punched the gas with her bare foot. The sign indicating Maple Street blurred by. The car was wallowing some and she knew she was on the line where it could go all the way around, but she squeezed the wheel and kept her foot in it. The rear tires squealed rubber and the car straightened up. She could see Flo waiting on the steps of the Johnson Building, big grin on her face. She screeched up in front and revved the engine.
“Wow, you almost did it that time,” Flo bubbled excitedly, scooting into the front seat. She was shorter than Ronnette and blonde. Ronnette liked her blondeness, her cheerful and fun-loving nature. Florence’s folks weren’t as well to do as Ronnette’s. Flo even had to work four days a week in the summer as a clerk in a wholesale jewelry house. Ronnette never worked. But Flo was her best friend, work or not. They had a lot of mutual interests, the most exciting of which was sex!
“Did you get it?” Flo was leaning across, eyes twinkling like big blue lakes.
Ronnette felt like teasing her a little. “Get what?”
“Oh, you know!” Flo pulled at her panty crotch. Her dress hit her just above the knees. Her knees were freckled and just a little plump. Ronnette thought that a boy would like that on a girl. Her own legs were willowy and lean, but very nice too. After all she was five-seven and Flo was five-two. She had small, high breasts whereas Florence’s were full and deep and soft with squiggly pink nipples
