“You goddamned slut!” Jack said in a gruff voice as he raised his right hand high over his head once more.
Angie snapped her head to the right, shaking the loose, long, golden-blonde hair from her eyes and looking up at her drunken husband. Her cheeks still stung from the last slap as hot tears welled up in her blue eyes and spilled out onto her face. The young woman’s jaw trembled as she raised her hands protectively to her face.
“Please, Jack. Please, don’t hit me again! I swear I didn’t do anything,” Angie pleaded as she dug her heels into the wrinkled top sheet of their king-sized bed and scooted backward until she felt the wooden Spanish-style headboard with her naked back.
“You fuckin’ little liar!” he hissed between his clenched teeth. The tall, large-framed Air Force sergeant reeled drunkenly on his feet as he stared angrily and steadily at his cringing wife. Lowering his hand, Jack wiped some spittle off his thick lips and bushy black moustache.
“I swear it. I was just laying down. I wasn’t feeling well,” Angie lied as she dropped her hands to her bare thighs.
