Rhona Golden is one of those desperate people. Bored, frustrated, unhappy, she jumps at the first opportunity for release. In her need, she casts aside morals and scruples, determined to live only for the moment, to grab at pleasure before it is taken away.

MOM’S BEDTIME PET is a novel about the “quiet desperation” in so many of us – and the extremes to which it may drive us.

“Why, why . . . ?”

Rhona Golden sat quietly on the couch, drumming her fingers on the arm rest. It was quiet, so very quiet in the large house. The ticking of the mantle clock before her sounded deafening as she thought of her daughter, her own empty life, of that attack of horniness she was now experiencing. It wouldn’t go away this time. It just wouldn’t go away. Try as she might, the attractive, thirty-six-year-old blonde couldn’t make that awful pulsing itch in her cunt disappear.

Straightening her back, Rhona slid back on the couch and felt the subtle rubbing of her cuntlips against one another. It was almost too much to stand. Tonight had to be the worst ever! But what did she expect? She hadn’t fucked with a man in nearly four years. And she didn’t plan to change that, either. At her age, what could she get? Some junior exec looking for a little strange pussy or some widower sobbing into his drink about his late wife? No, that wouldn’t please her at all. And with her daughter Allison living there, well, it would just be too complicated, too embarrassing, too . . . awkward.

There were the neighbors, too, to consider – their leering faces, knowing smirks. She was sure they thought she was sneaking a man in some way. Oh, how angry that made her! And did Allison suffer from their winking? Rhona didn’t know. But at least the girl knew nothing untoward was happening at home. All her actions were above board, dull and uninteresting.
