Cindy Duval is an innocent victim of degenerate individuals. Her situation proves that no girl is safe, whether she is walking alone in the street at night or during the daytime, or, as in Cindy’s case, in the supposed safety of her father’s farm. She has the attitude, as most girls do, that nothing can happen to her.
TORMENTED BY ANIMALS is the story of a girl degraded and used in every way by demented men. It is a contemporary story of the possible dangers facing every one of us.
Cindy Duval tried to clear her mind as she peered through the dirty window at the clear winter night. All those stars in that cloudless dark sky made her forget what had happened two nights before. It was all so peaceful below while men like the Barringers were crawling through the farm country of northern Alabama, spreading their insane depravity on innocent men and women who refused to pay them tribute.
The blonde sighed again, smoothing her palms over her full thighs and resting her head against the cold frosted window glass. She was in the middle of nowhere. All around this God-forsaken prison-like hill farm were several electric barbed wire fences, erected supposedly to keep the few scraggly chickens, pigs and other domestic animals from wandering away. But now Cindy knew what they were really for.
At times she and her cousin Susan had wandered up to this area, disobeying their fathers’ warnings about the Barringer place. They’d sat not too far from where Cindy was looking at now and wondered why the brothers had all this kind of protection. The fences and buildings resembled those of a prison camp. There had been whispers around the county of strange goings-on. How could the Barringers survive on a relatively large spread of expensive farm land when they grew almost nothing and sent less to market? Rumors of blackmail and extortion drifted through the air, but no one ever admitted to being a victim of the Barringers.
