“I’m sorry Hayley, but if you don’t cooperate, you’ll just have to stay in the hotel room.”
Hayley pulled a pout and glowered at Betty, then at her mom. Her mother had just appointed Hayley’s older sister to be her constant guardian while on vacation. Hayley knew why of course. Three months before, she’d lost her cherry to a blabbermouth guy at school and her mom had found out. She hadn’t been allowed out of the house for weeks, and now that they’d come to the beach, her mother intended to keep her on a leash. Betty would be at the other end.
“I shouldn’t even let you wear that awful little bikini you brought, but since your sister will be with you, I suppose it’s okay.”
“Gee thanks. What’d you expect me to wear swimming, a panty-girdle?”
“That’s enough sass, young lady.” Her mother stood up. “We’re here to have fun and I don’t want to be a spoil sport. But I’m not going to let you go wandering off amongst the boys either. You’ve proven to me that you don’t have much willpower when it comes to such matters, and I don’t intend to have my daughter pregnant before she’s married and mature.”
“You make me feel like a tramp. It wasn’t like that with Bobby, it . . .”
“I don’t want to hear about it.” Her mother opened the door between their rooms. “I’m going down to the restaurant. I’ll see you girls later.”
